Saturday 8/27 was rainy, and the cemetery was overgrown, but eight hardy souls braved the rain to help remove tires. I actually underestimated the number of tires we would be removing. We actually recycled 83 tires found inside Mount Moriah! I velieve it was a tremendous success, even without the help of the office staff (who were noticeably absent from the grounds that day). We took some pictures to share with those of you who could not make it. Our hope is that we won't have to do this again, but next year we will make a stronger effort, one that includes removing the dumped debris - not just tires! (I included some pictures of things seen in the cemetery - the vandalism on some of the tombs, now painted over; the tombstone of singer songwriter John Whitehead; and some general photos of the extensive overgrowth.)
