Hi~
My name is John Kovach. I am the St. Joseph County (IN) Historian. I have discovered that the founder of one of our county towns is buried in Mount Moriah (as is at least one of his sons).

His name is Richard Risley and he died on May 25, 1874....his son John died on Jan. 6, 1873.

Risley was only in northern Indiana for about five years..he was quite the unique, wandering soul as he later went on to fame in the circus world for popularizing the "risley act" (which is juggling people with your feet!!).

New Carlisle (the town he platteed in 1835 knew little about him until the past six months and until two months ago, they had no idea of what he even looked like! Given the many stories about him and his seemingly large ego, I wondered if his burial spot might have some sort of a large marker....

Other than walking the cemetery, is there a way to figure out where he is interred?? As I also mentioned, at least his son John (and possible his son Harry) might be buried close by him.

I am open to any and all suggestions as I am hopefully going to be in Philadelphia next Saturday morning...thanks!

john
