I recently visited the cemetery, and finally (after 3 tries) was able to get in the office and talk to the staff. They helped me find the location of the grave I was looking for, but refused to give me a detailed map of Section 109, where the grave is supposedly located. I drove into that section of the cemetery, and was surprised that 'most' of it had been cut/landscaped recently.
All the way up to Section 109, that is. Section 107, 108 and everything closer to Cobbs creek was looking good (I believe there was a funeral going on that day), but right where 109 starts was total JUNGLE.
Landscaping issues aside, my question is whether anyone out there has a MAP of Section 109, so that I can have a fighting chance of cutting back the brush exactly where the grave is?? The office staff DOES have all the maps, but refused to make a copy of it for me.
Second -- Are there LOT cards in existence for this cemetery?? (the records of each plot with names of those buried in it) The office staff says "no," but that would make this the only cemetery I've ever seen that doesn't have that type of record. For those who have yet to visit, they DO have interment records which can be found if you have the NAME and DATE of the burial you are searching for. They're in the original old hardback record books, locked up in the office. Or visit the Hist. Soc. of Penna. for microfilm versions of the same records.
